- ERIC (Educational Resource Information Center (http://www.eric.ed.gov)
ERIC provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text. ERIC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
- Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com)
Provides a search of scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources. Contains some links to free articles.
- Highwire Press (http://highwire.stanford.edu/lists/freeart.dtl)
Division of the Stanford University Libraries producing online versions of peer-reviewed journals and scholarly content. Many titles are available free of charge.
- National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Database
(http://www.ncjrs.gov/abstractdb/)
The NCJRS Abstracts Database contains summaries of the more than 185,000 criminal justice publications housed in the NCJRS Library collection. Some are available as electronic fulltext, others can be ordered for free in print.
- Native Health Databases (http://hsc.unm.edu/library/nhd/)
Current and historical (from 1652) bibliographic information and abstracts of health-related articles, reports, surveys and more pertaining to the health and health care of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Canadian First Nations. Free electronic delivery of up to 10 articles per day is available if the resource is owned by the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center..

National Library of Medicine's search service that provides access to over 11 million citations, many in full text.

An official peer-reviewed journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
- Addiction Treatment Forum (http://www.atforum.com/)
Focuses on methadone maintenance for opioid-addiction treatment. Published by Clinco Communications made possible by an educational grant from Tyco/Healthcare/Mallinckrodt, St. Louis, MO, a manufacturer of methadone and naltrexone.
- British Medical Journal (http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/) -- All research articles are Open Access.
